How come lying, deceit and leaving personal ethics in the the gutter is now the route to ‘finding God’. Jonathan Aitken and Tony Blair being notable practitioners of ‘Big God’. This involves not personal reflection, a personal set of ethics that most of the world shares’ treat others as you would like to be treated’, but ‘Big God’, The Catholic Church,Evangelism etc setting up Foundations, being seen to be ‘holier than thou’ at prayer or declaiming their ‘faith’ in public or the papers.

I was at Hay on Sunday. Never go there to be intellectually challenged. It is the soft left Nivarna. You can strut as a well heeled ‘intellectual’ having your prejudices about the righteousness of your ’cause reconfirmed without having to soil yourself with having to confront the great unwashed and poor. I set the kids a game how may pseudo Trotsky look alikes can you count today. Defined as at least one piece of faux military clothing, a goatee grey/white, a mao hat or Keffiyah clutching a signed copy of something by Polly Toynbee/Chris Mullin/Monty Don. Saving the world by drinking coffee ground between the thighs of young ethnic coffee growers in some far off land, that you are also trying to put out of work, by buying locally grown coffee beans in Dewsbury so that you can save the planet by not indulging in food miles.
